Aircraft Background

The Fokker F100 is a regional jet manufactured by Fokker in the Netherlands, and is derived from the older Fokker F28-4000 with a stretched fuselage, bigger engines, and an upgraded glass cockpit avionics suite. The F100 made its maiden flight on November 30th, 1986. The interior passenger cabin exhibits improvements over the F28 models with new individual overhead bins, improved cabin lighting, and modern Passenger Service Units (PSUs). The layout is a 5-abreast full economy seating style in a 2-3 configuration.

History

Fokker announced the program in 1983, and applied for a Type Certificate of the aircraft in March of 1983. The first prototype of the Fokker F100 first flew on November 30th, 1986, and the aircraft was approved on November 20th, 1987. Due to financial struggles, Fokker collapsed in 1996, with F100 production ending in 1997.
