Aircraft Background
The Fokker F28 is a regional jet manufactured by Fokker in the Netherlands, successor of the former Fokker F27 turboprop. The F28 made its maiden flight on May 9th, 1967. The aircraft features an older cockpit layout consisting of analogue "steam" gauges however outfitted with an advanced flight management computer. The layout is a 5-abreast full economy seating style in a 2-3 configuration.
History
Fokker announced the program in 1962, and it directly competed with the Douglas DC-9. The first prototype of the Fokker F28 first flew on May 9th, 1967, and the aircraft was approved on February 4th, 1969. F28 production ended in 1987 due to the launch of the newer Fokker F70 and F100.
